On this day, we recognise the importance of mental health and the impact it can have on someone’s life. World Mental Health Day UK is an opportunity to promote positive mental health and provide support to those who are struggling.

This year's World Mental Health Day theme is all about prioritising mental health in the workplace. This theme encourages us to take a proactive approach to mental health and create environments where staff and students feel comfortable and supported.

According to the , 875,000 workers suffered from work-related stress, depression and anxiety in 2022/23, highlighting the importance of seeking help if you’re feeling overwhelmed or are struggling with your mental health. Taking steps to manage your stress can help to improve your well-being and reduce the risk of . There are many resources available to help and support you if you’re affected by this and it’s important to remember that you’re not alone. Help is available if you need it. We must all become more aware of how to strike a healthy balance between work and play. Speak up when the expectations and demands of work are too much, take proper lunch breaks, set a time to completely unplug, try to draw a line between work, leisure, and home life, let go of perfectionism, give yourself at least 10 mins of quiet time each day, and express gratitude for the small things in your life.
