Biography

I am Associate Dean (Students) for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Principal Lecturer in Journalism at the ºÚÁÏÈë¿Ú. I have many years experience working in the journalism industry, managing news, sport and features at various regional media companies, and working as a freelance journalist for national newspapers and magazines. I have also worked in PR, both running my own PR consultancy for a range of clients and working at an agency.

Since joining the university in 2007 I have been responsible for teaching all types of reporting from social-friendly news and sport content to longform articles. My specialism is mobile journalism, teaching students how to film and edit with smartphones, as well as DSLRs and desktop editing packages. I also teach sports reporting and supervise final year dissertations and practical journalism major projects.

My research interests lie in the impact of mobile devices and associated emerging and immersive technology on content creation and delivery in the worlds of HE and journalism.
