Dr Jason Oakley
Biography
I was one of the first four full time degree trained radiographers in the country to graduate from the ºÚÁÏÈë¿Ú. My clinical career started at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester where I specialised in Computed Tomography (CT), obtaining my MSc in Medical Imaging, with CT accreditation, again at the ºÚÁÏÈë¿Ú.
I subsequently expanded my experience by moving to Queen Alexandra Hospital in ºÚÁÏÈë¿Ú where I became involved in the installation of computed radiography (CR) and the picture archiving and communications system (PACS), as well as consolidating my knowledge of CT. During this time I also undertook a postgraduate course in radiographer reporting at Southbank University and actively reported appendicular trauma radiographs for several years.
In 2000 I accepted a post as lecturer at City University in London where I obtained my Introductory Certificate to Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and Academy membership (now Advance HE). Late in 2002 I moved to the ºÚÁÏÈë¿Ú as a senior lecturer.
In September 2010 I completed my PhD within the School of Computing, Faculty of Technology, ºÚÁÏÈë¿Ú, exploring factors potentially affecting the perception and interpretation of medical images used in Higher Education.
In 2012 I was appointed as External Promotion and Liaison Lead for the School of Health Sciences and Social Work. In October 2014 I became the interim Associate Dean (Students) and in June 2015 moved fully into this role.
In 2020 I secured the role of Interim Head of the School of Health and Care Professions, moving into the full role later in the year.
